Festival de Jerez
Festival de Jerez
Spanish audience was mesmerized by the tale of tragic love... gSONEZAKIh featured on front page of newspapers!
On March 9, 2004, gSONEZAKIh took part in the Festival de Jerez - a first time in the history of this authoritative festival in Spain from overseas. A total of 40 Japanese musicians and staff visited the mecca of flamenco, Jerez de la frontera.
gSONEZAKIh is based on the popular story of Japanese classics, Kabuki and Bunraku. The venturous approach to amalgamate this flamenco show with the Japanese classics intrigued those in Spain. Tickets were sold out soon after release.
The reaction of the audience was apparent once they saw the show. Applause rippled through the hall during pivotal points of the story and its finish brought a standing ovation. The Spanish audience shed tears for the Japanese feelings, The Love Suicide...
The second day of the show, gSONEZAKIh made the front page of the Diario de Jerez newspaper.gThe Japanese were able to cross the border of flamenco. The pair, Kagita and Sato achieved something that no other foreign artists has ever done.h
Not only the high techniques of the dancers, but the choreography, music, lighting, stage setting and costumes were stunningly creative | helping it to win further acclaim.
